A Pict Army List

Like any other Pict army list you have ever read this one is extremely speculative. It is intended to represent the confederation at the height of its power. I’m inclined to see a division between major raiding forces that will comprise mainly of fighting elites with some lesser souls along to do the drudgery and home defence where everyone who is entitled to fight is turned out. The latter are indicated with an *.

It is quite a horsey army because that is where the evidence points us. All of the cavalry can use Drungus formation.  I have also made the aristocrats formidable fighters because that was a requirement of their social position.

There are chariots as there is some evidence that they were still in use and also because they add to the fun. If all the chariots are used, they can form a Big Unit albeit one of the normal 4 bases.

The lesser aristocracy are also horsemen and are equally skilled with weapons if not quite so determined to fight hand to hand as the real bosses.

The infantry are the free farmers, part time warriors but still willing.  Some of them will have taken part in the major raids on Britannia and are more experienced and so are Stubborn.  Pict spear men can form Big Units

Archers can fire overhead, skirmish or simply form a line.

It is possible that a Warrior cult was in existence prior to the conversion if you favour that there are two units of its devotees.

  1. Thanks lads, I've finished some Minifigs cavalry too but need to complete the bases. They'll turn up in the next post.
